Hear from Patients

"When I first met Julie, I had vulvar pain that my gynecologist and other specialists in Anchorage could not remedy. Honestly, I lived with the pain for so long that I was close to giving up hope on ever having pain-free sex. Desperate for help and discouraged from so many previous treatment failures, I reached out to Julie as a last resort. At first, I thought it was strange to see a physical therapist for my vulvar pain, but at that point, I was willing to try anything.

My first session with Julie was so encouraging. I felt like I had found someone who could help me without taking drastic measures (such as surgery) to make my pain go away. I was so excited because I felt like I had exhausted all of my treatments options in Anchorage and that I would have to go to the Lower 48 if I wanted permanent relief, but I couldn’t easily afford a trip and was worried that my insurance wouldn’t cover the services or that they would work at all. Since Julie is a certified physical therapist, I didn’t have any problems with my insurance paying for the services.

Julie presents a unique combination of being incredibly knowledgeable in her field, yet clear and concise in the communication of such a misunderstood area of women’s health. Her professional demeanor and efficient delivery of information makes her an outstanding—if not exceptional—physical therapist. I would highly recommend her to anyone struggling with vulvar pain. After 15 years of painful sex, I can hardly believe that I am able to say that I can now have sex pain-free without resorting to surgery."
